Eric Houston produces content for North Metro TV and also uploads videos to YouTube. With his platform, Houston gives lectures about movies and also has a series where he talks about bad movies with his brother.
Here’s more about Houston.
How long have you been producing content about movies?
I’ve been producing content about movies for about five years.
Where do you live and/or produce content about movies?
I produce my content at North Metro TV in Blaine, Minn.
What type of content do you produce about movies?
I currently produce a series of film history lectures called Movie Man Eric, with episodes about The Marx Brothers, the quiz show scandals, and this history of animation. I also have a show called Bad Movie Brothers, where my brother and I talk about bad movies.
What motivated you to create content about movies?
I have loved movies for as long as I can remember. When I started college, I was randomly assigned to an intro to film course. I suppose I knew that people went to film school, but this was the first time I realized it was something I could do with my life.
I continued to study both film history and film production. Loving both equally, it was probably only a matter of time before I stared producing content about movies.
What inspired your love of movies?
It’s hard to say what inspired my love of movies. They have sort of just always been there. I am more fascinated by them than most, to be sure.
As to why or how, that’s really the $64,000 question. If you really need an answer, though, let’s say this: I was bitten by a radioactive film bug.
What do you enjoy most about living in Minnesota?
I moved to Minnesota because I really enjoy the pace of life here and the people.
What is your favorite movie theater in Minnesota?
Minnesota has so many great movie theaters, but my favorite has to be the gorgeous Heights Theater in Columbia Heights. If you plan to see a movie there, be sure to arrive early and enjoy a concert on the mighty Wurlitzer organ.
What are some of your favorite movies from the past year (2019)?
- Jojo Rabbit
- Last Christmas
- Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood
- Uncut Gems
- Downton Abbey
- Knives Out
- Doctor Sleep (Director’s Cut)
- Dolemite Is My Name
- Avengers: Endgame
What are your favorite movies set in Minnesota?
