The Alliance Lately, Issue No. 8

It was a busy week for Minnesota film critics with several reviews of Christopher Nolan’s new movie “Tenet” being published. Additionally, other movies from 2020 along with flicks from the 80s and 90s were looked at.

Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.

Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl

On the Horror Rewind podcast, Florence and Hafdahl discuss the 2020 film “Host,” which is streaming on the platform Shudder.

Joseph Froemming

At The Joe-Down, Froemming reviewed 1999’s teen comedy “Detroit Rock City.”

Kyle Goethe

On the series Kyle & Nick on Film, Goethe and fellow MNFCA member Nicholas Palodichuk reviewed 1996’s “Bound” and the crime drama “Zodiac” from 2007.

Paul McGuire Grimes

Over the last week, Grimes reviewed the spy thriller “Tenet” and the live action “Mulan.” He also conducted interviews with “Tenet” cast members and appeared on the series “Twin Cities Live.”

Jeremy Lebens

At The Daily Rotation, Lebens reviewed Christopher Nolan’s picture “Tenet.”

Matthew Liedke

At his website, Liedke reviewed the live action “Mulan” adaptation and the new spy picture “Tenet.”

Ruth Maramis

At FlixChatter, Maramis reviewed two 2020 pictures including “The Personal History of David Copperfield” and “Centigrade.”

Mark McPherson

At his site, McPherson reviewed the spy flick “Tenet” and the documentary “Happy Happy Joy Joy: The Ren and Stimpy Story.”

Nicholas Palodichuk

On the St. Paul Filmcast, Palodichuk spoke with screenwriter Brandon Rhiness in one episode and actor Max Eric Lemberger in another.

Frank Stanko

For his ongoing look at 1985 in film at The Pop Culturists, Stanko wrote a piece about the sci-fi comedy “Creator.”
