Minnesota Film Critics were busy with a mix of digital and theatrical releases in the last two weeks. On top of those releases, the MNFCA created content about plenty of older films and indie movies.
Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.
Joe Botten
For his site, Botten reviewed “Above Suspicion,” “The Water Man,” “Initiation,” “Oxygen,” “Those Who Wish Me Dead,” “The Woman in the Window,” “Spiral,” “High Ground,” “The Djinn,” and “Profile.”
Brian Eggert
At Deep Focus Review, Eggert wrote about new releases “Shiva Baby,” “In the Earth,” “Oxygen,” “There is no Evil” and “The Woman in the Window.” Eggert also reviewed the 2018 picture “Shadow.”
Nicholas Erickson
For his YouTube channel, Erickson produced a video recommending five movies that have gone overlooked.
Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl
For their podcast’s fourth anniversary, the Horror Rewind team shared two classic episodes, one about “Friday the 13th” and the other on “Poltergeist.”
Hunter Friesen

Joseph Froemming
For the Joe-Down series, Froemming reviewed the new “Mortal Kombat” and 1980’s “Xanadu.”
Kyle Goethe
For the series Kyle and Nick on Film, Goethe reviewed “The Rocketeer,” “Cape Fear,” “The Doors” and “Soapdish,” all from 1991. Goethe was joined by fellow MNFCA member Nicholas Palodichuk.
Paul McGuire Grimes
For his series Paul’s Trip to the Movies, Grimes reviewed “The Mitchells vs the Machines,” “Army of the Dead,” “Those Who Wish Me Dead,” “Spiral” and “The Woman in the Window.”
Grimes also spoke with Deborah and Zack Snyder about “Army of the Dead” and appeared on the May 14 episode of Twin Cities Live.
Eric Houston
For North Metro TV, Houston produced a video about actress Ingrid Pitt.
Melinda Lavine
At the Duluth News Tribune, Lavine reviewed “The Incredible 25th Year of Mitzi Bearclaw,” a movie part of the Duluth Superior Film Festival’s Monthly Indigenous Film Series.
Jeremy Lebens
For The Daily Rotation, Lebens reviewed “Wrath of Man,” “Profile,” “Spiral,” “Army of the Dead” and “Those Who Wish Me Dead.”
Frank Lee
At the Brainerd Dispatch, Lee reviewed “Here Today” and “Wrath of Man.”
Matthew Liedke
On his site, Liedke reviewed “Four Good Days” and “Wrath of Man.”
Ruth Maramis
At FlixChatter, Maramis reviewed “Wrath of Man,” “Those Who Wish Me Dead” and “Limbo.” Maramix also wrote about period dramas for her Thursday Movie Picks series and a piece about the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival.
