Along with celebrating the Fourth of July holiday MNFCA members were busy lately with several new releases from established franchises.
Many Minnesota critics reviewed Marvel’s “Black Widow” and the latest film in the “Purge” franchise. MNFCA members also reviewed several other films showing in theaters and on streaming platforms.
Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.
Joe Botten
At his site, Botten reviewed “The Forever Purge,” “The Tomorrow War,” “Fear Street Parts 1 and 2,” “Summer of Soul,” “Long Story Short,” “Till Death,” “12 Mighty Orphans,” “I Carry You With Me,” “Black Widow” and “Love Type D.”
Brian Eggert
For Deep Focus Review, Eggert reviewed “Zola,” “No Sudden Move,” “Censor,” “Summer of Soul,” “The Tomorrow War” and “False Positive.” Eggert also wrote about 2018’s “Damsel” and 1997’s “Cure.”
Nicholas Erickson
For his YouTube channel, Erickson produced a video about 10 movies that should be added to the Criterion Collection.
Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl
On their podcast Horror Rewind, Florence and Hafdahl had spoiler free talk about the films “Army of the Dead,” “Psycho Goreman,” “The Power” and “Don’t Knock Twice.” They also discussed the TV adaptation of Stephen King’s “Lisey’s Story.”
Joseph Froemming
For his site, Froemming reviewed the new action film “F9” and the hockey classic “Slap Shot.”
Kyle Goethe
On the series Kyle and Nick on Film, Goethe was joined by fellow MNFCA member Nicholas Palodichuk to discuss 1956’s “Forbidden Planet,” 1967’s “The Producers,” 1974’s “Young Frankenstein” and 1991’s “Life Stinks.”
Paul McGuire Grimes
For his Paul’s Trip to the Movies series, Griems reviewed “Fear Street Parts 1 and 2,” as well as “Black Widow,” “No Sudden Move,” “Summer of Soul” and “The Tomorrow War.” Grimes also appeared on the July 9 episode of Twin Cities Live.
Eric Houston
For his Bad Movie Bros series, Houston reviewed the 1989 film “Meet the Hollowheads.”
Jeremy Lebens
At The Daily Rotation, Lebens reviewed “No Sudden Move,” “The Forever Purge,” “Black Widow” and “Till Death.”
Frank Lee
For the Brainerd Dispatch, Lee reviewed “The Forever Purge” and “Black Widow.”
Matthew Liedke
At his site, Liedke reviewed “The Forever Purge,” “Black Widow,” “The Tomorrow War” and “Till Death.”
