The Alliance Lately: Issue No. 44

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” is dominating the box office right now ahead of Christmas and plenty of MNFCA members reviewed the new superhero flick.

That’s not all, though. Over the last two weeks, MNFCA members have reviewed “West Side Story, “Nightmare Alley” and much more.

Here’s what the Alliance has been up to as the 2021 comes to a close.

Joe Botten

At his site, Botten reviewed “West Side Story,” “Mixtape,” “Single All the Way,” “Silent Night,” “Wolf,” “Encounter,” “Being the Ricardos,” “The Unforgivable,” “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “The King’s Man.”

Brian Eggert

For Deep Focus Review, Eggert reviewed “Benedetta,” “C’mon C’mon,” “West Side Story” and “Nightmare Alley.” Eggert also wrote about his Top 10 Films with Ambiguous Endings for his Patron.

Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl

On the Horror Rewind podcast, Florence and Hafdahl discussed horror movies they’ve been watching during the holidays and the series “Dexter New Blood.”

Hunter Friesen

At the site Buffed Film Buffs, Friesen wrote a “West Side Story” review. Friesen also contributed in two trivia games for the League of Cinephiles YouTube channel on Dec. 12 and 20.

Joseph Froemming

For his Joe-Down series, Froemming reviewed 1978’s “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and 2010’s “Black Swan.”

Kyle Goethe

On his site, Goethe shared a video unboxing of the Hammer Horror 8-Film Collection.

He also teamed with fellow MNFCA member Nicholas Palodichuk to chat about 1981’s “Body Heat,” 1997’s “Mimic,” 1998’s “Dark City,” 2016’s “The Handmaiden,” 2004’s “Night Watch” and 1981’s “Outland” for the YouTube series Kyle and Nick on Film.

Paul McGuire Grimes

For his series Paul’s Trip to the Movies, Grimes reviewed “Being the Ricardos,” “West Side Story,” “The Power of the Dog,” “Encounter,” “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Nightmare Alley,” “Swan Song,” “Don’t Look Up,” “Licorice Pizza” and “The Matrix Resurrections.”

Grimes also interviewed the cast of “The Matrix Resurrections.” He also appeared on the Dec. 10 and 17 episodes of Twin Cities Live.

Frank Lee

At the Brainerd Dispatch, Lee reviewed new releases “Encanto” and “Nightmare Alley.”

Matthew Liedke

On his site, Liedke reviewed 2021 films “Mitchells Vs. the Machines,” “West Side Story,” “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Nightmare Alley” and “American Underdog.

Ruth Maramis

At FlixChatter, Maramis reviewed “West Side Story,” “Being the Ricardos,” “Nightmare Alley” and “Sing 2.”

Mark McPherson

For his site, McPherson reviewed “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “The King’s Man” and “Hell Hath No Fury.” He also wrote a piece about the state of adult animated comedy series.

Nicholas Palodichuk

On the St. Paul Filmcast, Palodichuk spoke with comedian and podcaster Dan Bublitz.
