There’s been a whirlwind of new releases lately, with existing franchises and original films in the mix.
The last few weeks have had the release of “Secrets of Dumbledore” from the Wizarding World series and a film about a fictional Nicolas Cage. Those movies and much more have been reviewed by MNFCA members.
Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.
Sean Blanford
At Movie Birb, Blanford reviewed the new Wizarding World entry, “The Secrets of Dumbledore.”
Joe Botten
At his site, Botten reviewed “Nitram,” “Better Nate than Ever,” “You Are Not My Mother” and “Dual.”
Brian Eggert
For Deep Focus Review, Eggert reviewed new releases “The Secrets of Dumbledore,” “Windfall” and “The Northman.” He also wrote about 1993’s “Farewell My Concubine,” 2018’s “Everybody Knows” and 2021’s “007: No Time to Die.”
Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl
On their April 14 episode of the Horror Rewind podcast, Florence and Hafdahl discussed the new series “Severance.” Then, for their April 21 installment, they talked about the North x North International Film Festival, as well as recent documentaries they’ve watched and new pictures such as “The Northman.”
Hunter Friesen
For the Northern Iowan, Friesen reviewed new releases “Ambulance,” “The Secrets of Dumbledore” and “The Northman.”
Joseph Froemming
On his blog, for the Joe-Down series, Froemming reviewed the recent Marvel film “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
Kyle Goethe and Nicholas Palodichuk
For their YouTube series Kyle and Nick on Film, Goethe and Palodichuk reviewed 1972’s “The Getaway,” 1997’s “Cop Land,” 1998’s “Thursday,” 2008’s “Martyrs” and 2020’s “Peninsula.”
Paul McGuire Grimes
For his series Paul’s Trip to the Movies, Grimes reviewed “The Northman,” “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” and “X.” He also interviewed Alexander Skarsgard of “The Northman” and Craig Robinson of “The Bad Guys.”
He also appeared on the April 15 and 22 episodes of Twin Cities Live.
Matt Hambidge
At News From The Couch, Hambidge reviewed new releases “The Secrets of Dumbledore” and “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.”
On the Cinema Stubs podcast, Hambidge also co-hosted episodes about “Ambulance,” “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” and “Everything Everywhere All At once.”
Danny Haslach
On the Film Bird podcast, Haslach co-hosted an episode focused on favorite films from 2016.
Eric Houston
For North Metro TV, Houston produced a documentary about the “Columbo” series.
Frank Lee
At the Brainerd Dispatch, Lee wrote about new releases “Father Stu” and “The Bad Guys.”
Matthew Liedke
At his site, Liedke reviewed “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” “Sonic The Hedgehog 2,” “Ambulance,” “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” “The Northman” and “The Secrets of Dumbledore.”
He also wrote a piece about three times actor Nicolas Cage was well cast in films.
Ruth Maramis
On FlixChatter, Maramis reviewed “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” and wrote an Easter special about her seven favorite scores in movies about redemption.
Mark McPherson
At his site, McPherson reviewed “The Bad Guys” and “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.” He also wrote about “Moonfall” for Twin Cities Geek and “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” for Film Inquiry.
