The Alliance Lately: Issue No. 57

The third “Jurassic World” film has been out in theaters for a few weeks and Minnesota critics are continuing to give their thoughts on the movie.

In addition to “Jurassic World: Dominion,” MNFCA members have also been busy reviewing Pixar’s “Lightyear” and the new biopic “Elvis.

Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.

Brian Eggert

At Deep Focus Review, Eggert reviewed 2022 films “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande,” “Neptune Frost,” “Cha Cha Real Smooth,” “Mad God,” “Lightyear” and “Elvis.”

He also wrote about 2021 films “The Lost Daughter” and “Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy,” as well as 1995’s “Strange Days.”

Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl

On the Horror Rewind podcast, Florence and Hafdahl reviewed the 1972 film “Invasion of the Blood Farmers” and discussed the fourth season of “Stranger Things.”

Hunter Friesen

Friesen appeared on two podcasts recently. To discuss his experiences at the Cannes Film Festival, he was a guest on the Gold Derby Horses podcast. He also appeared on The Infinity Film Podcast to talk about A24 films

Kyle Goethe and Nicholas Palodichuk

On their series Kyle and Nick on Film, Goethe and Palodichuk discussed 1959’s “North by Northwest,” 1982’s “The Slumber Party Massacre,” 1992’s “Dracula,” 1993’s “Jurassic Park,” 2002’s “Road to Perdition” and 2009’s “Brooklyn’s Finest.”

Paul McGuire Grimes

For his series Paul’s Trip to the Movies, Grimes reviewed “Influencer,” “Cha Cha Real Smooth” and “Lightyear.” He also conducted an interview with the cast of “Influencer.”

Matt Hambidge

At News From The Couch, Hambidge reviewed “Hustle,” “Lightyear,” “Cha Cha Real Smooth,” “Spiderhead” and “Elvis.” He also discussed the new “Jurassic World” film and Adam Sandler movies in one episode of the Cinema Stubs podcast, and about “Lightyear” and other Pixar films in another.

Danny Haslach

On the FilmBird podcast, Haslach co-hosted episodes about “Top Gun: Maverick” and films from 2013.

Frank Lee

For the Brainerd Dispatch, Lee wrote about new releases “Jurassic World: Dominion” and “Lightyear.”

Matthew Liedke

At his site, Liedke reviewed “Jurassic World: Dominion” and “Lightyear.” He also ranked the movies in the “Jurassic” series.

Ruth Maramis

On FlixChatter, Maramis reviewed “Jurassic World: Dominion,” “The Valet,” “Lightyear” and “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande.” She also republished her review of “Before We Go,” directed and starring Chris Evans on the actor’s 41st birthday.

Mark McPherson

At his site, McPherson reviewed new releases “Lightyear” and “Brian and Charles,” while also writing about the new season of “The Boys.” He also reviewed “Elvis” and “The Bad Guys” for Film Inquiry.

Frank Stanko

For the Wahpeton-Breckenridge Daily News, Stanko reviewed Pixar’s “Lightyear.” He also continued his look back at the films of 1998 for The Pop Culturists with pieces on “The Opposite Sex,” “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” “Godzilla” and “Almost Heroes.”
