Alliance Lately: Issue No. 63

The Toronto International Film Festival is underway and the MNFCA is providing some great coverage.

Members who’re seeing movies at TIFF have released some reviews giving readers an early look at upcoming pictures. It wasn’t all film festival premiers, though, as plenty of other new releases were also reviewed, such as the new horror flick “Barbarian.”

Alliance Lately: Issue No. 62

It was a mix of fantasy and suspense at the theaters recently, with the release of the thriller “Beast” and the mystical movie “Three Thousand Years of Longing.”

Both films were reviewed by members of the MNFCA as summer came to a close. Those films weren’t the only ones Minnesota critics had on their radar, though.

The Alliance Lately: Issue No. 61

A mix of digital and theatrical releases were the focus of Minnesota film critics recently.

Minnesota Film Critics Alliance Profile: Jay Gabler

Jay Gabler has been covering arts and entertainment in a variety of ways.

He was a theater critic for City pages and arts editor at the Twin Cities Daily Planet. He’s also worked as a digital producer for Minnesota Public Radio and writes about pop culture at the site The Tangential.

Today, his main work is focused on arts and entertainment reporting at the Duluth News Tribune. Here’s more about Gabler in his own words.

The Alliance Lately: Issue No. 59

More reviews on the latest Marvel film have poured in from critics across Minnesota, with a variety of opinions on the new picture.

The Alliance Lately: Issue No. 57

The Alliance Lately: Issue No. 56

Blockbuster season is in full swing with classic franchises coming back to theaters.
