The Alliance Lately, Issue No. 13

The month of Halloween is in full swing with many horror movies getting reviewed by the MNFCA. At the same time, new releases have also been written about.

Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.

Joe Botten

The MN Movie Man continued his 31 Days to Scare series with reviews of “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” “The Watcher in the Woods,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “The Birds,” “Evil Eye,” “Nocturne” and “Scalpel.”

Brian Eggert

For his site, Eggert reviewed the “Candyman” sequel from the 90s as well as 2020 releases “Vampires vs. the Bronx” and “Misbehavior.”

Kelly Florence and Meg Hafdahl

For the Horror Rewind podcast, Florence and Hafdahl talked all about Stephen King’s career.

Joseph Froemming

For the most recent Joe-Down, Froemming reviewed the 2018 film “Mandy,” starring Nicolas Cage.

Kyle Goethe

At his site, Goethe continued his 31 Days of Horror series with reviews of “FearDotCom,” “Leprechaun 4,” “Shivers,” “Silent Night Deadly Night 5,” “Splice,” “Scream,” “Annabelle” and “The Fog.”

Additionally, for the YouTube series Kyle & Nick on Film, Goethe and fellow MNFCA member Nicholas Palodichuk chatted about 1984’s “Dreamscape.”

Paul McGuire Grimes

Over the last week, Grimes reviewed the film “The War with Grandpa” and the series “The Haunting of Bly Manor.” Grimes also appeared on Twin Cities Live.

Eric Houston

For his Movie Man Eric series, Houston produced a video essay about Joe Bob Briggs, host of “Monstervision.”

Jeremy Lebens

At The Daily Rotation, Lebens reviewed “On the Rocks” and “The War with Grandpa.”

Matthew Liedke

For his site, Liedke started his Adventures in B-Movie Horror series. He also reviewed recent releases “The Glorias,” “Then Came You” and “A Call to Spy.”

Mark McPherson

For both his site and Twin Cities Geek, McPherson reviewed “The War with Grandpa.” McPherson also reviewed the new drama “On The Rocks.”

Nicholas Palodichuk

On the St. Paul Filmcast this week, Palodichuk spoke with comic book artist Nathan Lueth about movies that have inspired him.

Frank Stanko

At The Pop Culturists, Stanko reviewed 80s flicks “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” “Ran,” “Agnes of God,” “The Journey of Natty Gann,” and “Commando.”
