As film critics, we love movies. That love is often built over time at one place, the movie theater.

That can be especially true during the summer months. Many of us start off as movie fans first and the big summer blockbusters that brought us to the theaters helped kick off a lifelong love of film.

The Alliance Lately: Issue No. 55

Recent weeks have brought horror films and a period piece to big screens across the country.

In the last two weeks, the Stephen King adaptation “Firestarter” and the A24 independent thriller “Men” were released, as was “Downton Abbey: A New Era.” Those films and many more were under review by the MNFCA.

The Alliance Lately: Issue no. 54

The summer blockbuster season kicked off recently with the release of Marvel’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

Minnesota critics were busy reviewing that, along with several other films, while also doing some film festival coverage. Both the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival and the North by North Film Festival have been covered.
