The summer movie season has wrapped up and several film festivals are now on deck.
As a result, members of the MNFCA used the last few weeks to review the final summer movies and several smaller releases. Many also published retrospective reviews of older films.
Here’s what the Alliance has been up to lately.
Joe Botten
For his site, Botten reviewed new films “The Dive,” “Founders Day,” “We Kill For Love” and “My Animal.”
Eli Brau
At A Cinephile’s Corner, Brau reviewed recent releases “The Flash,” “The Artifice Girl,” “The Blackening,” “You Hurt My Feelings” and “Hypnotic.” He also wrote about David Fincher films “Alien 3” (1992), “Se7en” (1995) and “The Game” (1997). He also ranked the films from the animation studio Laika and movies directed by Edgar Wright.
Brian Eggert
For Deep Focus Review, Eggert reviewed 2023 films “Bottoms” and “Perpetrator.” He also wrote about 1984’s “Paris, Texas,” 1997’s “Gattaca” and 2006’s “The Good German.”
Hunter Friesen
At The Cinema Dispatch, Friesen reviewed the new movie “Gran Turismo” and “El Conde.” He also wrote a list of pictures at the Toronto International Film Festival that flopped.
Kyle Goethe and Nicholas Palodichuk
For their series Kyle and Nick on Film, Goethe and Palodichuk discussed 1985’s “To Live and Die in L.A.,” 1991’s “Cast a Deadly Spell,” 1994’s “China Moon” and 1996’s “The Phantom.” Palodichuk also made a solo video about 1997’s “City of Industry.”
Matthew Liedke
At his site, Liedke reviewed recent releases “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,” “The Last Voyage of the Demeter” and “Blue Beetle.”
Ruth Maramis
On FlixChatter, Maramis wrote about the first two “Equalizer” films in anticipation of the third movie coming out. She also published a post about two streaming films, “Peace by Chocolate” and “Otherhood.”
Mark McPherson
For Film Inquiry, McPherson reviewed the new racing film “Gran Turismo.”
